Kawachinagano City is located at the southeastern tip of Osaka Prefecture, bordering Nara Prefecture to the east with the Kongo Mountains and Wakayama Prefecture to the south with the Izumi Mountains, and has a population of about 100,000. This city, known as a "town where you can encounter the Middle Ages," has a rich natural environment with 70% of its area covered by forests and many cultural heritage sites. It has declared itself an educational city. The city has been focusing on education utilizing ICT from an early stage, introducing tablet computers for teachers in elementary and junior high schools, installing projectors and large televisions in classrooms, and conducting international exchange classes using video conferencing systems.
