The TBMDA3 wideband power amplifier with modulation capability is designed to create a low-cost signal source for immunity testing of electronic building blocks and products. It is designed to be driven by the tracking generator output of a spectrum analyzer. Its high gain allows it to boost the output power of any tracking generator up to 5W. The TBMDA3 is ideal for driving Tekbox near-field probes to find sensitive spots in electronic circuits, or for generating electric fields of up to 550V/m when driving the Tekbox TEM cell TBTC0, and 300V/m when driving TBTC1. When driving TBTC2 or TBTC3, it generates 100V/m. The test signals for immunity testing can be modulated in CW, AM, or PM. As a result, the TBMDA3 provides built-in modulation capabilities to generate 1 kHz AM or PM signals. In PM mode, the TBMDA3 can also generate a 217 Hz signal with a 12.5% duty cycle to simulate mobile phone TDMA noise.
