Bourns has developed an innovative GMOV hybrid overvoltage surge protection component that outperforms conventional MOV components in terms of performance and reliability. The innovative GMOV component combines metal oxide varistors (MOV) and gas discharge tubes (GDT) with patented space-saving FLAT technology. This hybrid device has a compact shape and can be used instead of standard 14 or 20 mm MOVs. **Performance** - Zero energy consumption in standby - Low capacitance - GDT isolates MOV from AC/DC - Isolates MOV from line voltage below GDT turn-on voltage - Low leakage current over the lifespan (<0.1 µA) In general, GMOV components for overvoltage protection can be used in nearly any application powered by AC or DC.
