An amorphous transformer is a transformer that uses an amorphous core alloy for its core. Transformers that utilize this amorphous core have the characteristic of significantly reducing standby losses (no-load losses or iron losses) compared to transformers that use conventional silicon steel sheet cores, achieving reductions of about 1/5 to 1/10 of the conventional silicon steel.
