"COR-TEN" is a weather-resistant steel that uniquely overcomes the greatest weakness of steel, which is rust, by preventing it with rust itself. When left exposed to the atmosphere in its bare form, it initially rusts like ordinary steel, but eventually, due to the action of alloying elements, it forms a dense rust layer (protective rust) on the surface, which suppresses further rust development. When this product is painted, the repainting cycle is extended compared to ordinary steel, thereby reducing repainting costs.
