To ensure the integrity of the product, we conduct non-destructive testing in accordance with standards and regulations, as well as in alignment with customer requirements.
At Benkan Kiko, we manufacture welded pipe fittings from materials such as steel pipes, steel plates, and forgings, and from materials like carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals. To ensure the integrity of our products, we conduct non-destructive testing in accordance with standards and regulations, as well as in line with our customers' requirements. Non-destructive testing is a method that examines the presence, location, size, shape, and distribution of defects without damaging the material or product, and is also referred to as "Nondestructive Examination: abbreviated as NDE." It can be divided into tests for detecting surface defects and tests for detecting internal defects. 【Detection of Internal Defects】 1. Radiographic Testing (RT) 2. Ultrasonic Testing (UT) 【Detection of Surface Defects】 3. Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) 4. Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)

basic information
The quality management system of Benkan Kiko is designed to provide products that meet the quality requirements of our customers. To ensure this, we implement process management along with various tests and inspections. "Pressure Testing" Based on the results of pressure performance tests conducted on representative dimensions and steel types for each manufacturing method of pipe fittings, as specified in JIS B 2311, JIS B 2312, JIS B 2313, and ASME B16.9, we manufacture pipe fittings that have pressure resistance equal to or greater than the connecting pipes. We also comply with the pressure testing required for the fitting body in the pre-use and periodic safety management inspections mandated by the Electric Utility Industry Law. "Various Mechanical Tests" We respond to mechanical tests required by JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards), ASME, and ASTM (American Society for Testing Materials) standards, as well as tests required by various regulations and classification societies. "Dimensional Inspection" Measuring instruments are calibrated and managed based on national measurement standards. "Various Non-Destructive Inspections" Various non-destructive inspections are conducted by certified inspectors in accordance with applicable standards.

Detailed information
-
1. Radiographic Testing (RT): This test is conducted to detect internal defects. It involves irradiating the test specimen with radiation and examining the changes in the intensity of the transmitted radiation to assess the condition of any defects. If there are inherent "flaws" or defects in the test specimen, they will cast shadows on the film. The type of defect can be identified from these shadows, and an evaluation is made by comparing it with the acceptance criteria to determine pass or fail. It is primarily performed on welded joints made of steel plates.
-
2. Ultrasonic Testing (UT): It is conducted for the purpose of detecting internal defects. This test utilizes the acoustic properties exhibited by the test specimen when ultrasonic waves are transmitted through it, examining the internal defects and material of the specimen through the reflection of the ultrasonic waves. The testing methods are categorized into vertical and angled methods based on the shape of the inspection object. It is primarily performed on welded joints made of steel plates, as well as on materials such as steel pipes, steel plates, and forged steel.
-
3. Magnetic Particle Testing (MT): This test is conducted to detect surface defects. It involves magnetizing ferromagnetic materials such as steel, and utilizing the adhesion of magnetic particles caused by magnetic poles at defect sites to detect surface defects. It is primarily performed on the surfaces of steel pipes and welded joints made of steel plates.
-
4. Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT): This test is conducted to detect surface defects. After applying a penetrant to the "flaws" that are open on the surface of the test specimen, the test method involves observing the flaws as indicated patterns in an enlarged image. It is mainly performed on the surfaces of steel pipes, welded joints made of steel plates, and bevel ends of pipe fittings.
