This is a soil penetration testing device that measures the dynamic penetration resistance of the soil at the current location to determine the hardness or softness of the ground and the degree of compaction.
This is a test devised by the Public Works Research Institute of the Ministry of Construction, where a hammer with a mass of 5±0.05 kg is freely dropped from a height of 500±10 mm to achieve a penetration of 100 mm, allowing for a simple determination of the dynamic cone penetration resistance of the ground based on the number of impacts required.
