The saturated KCl silver/silver chloride reference electrode is one of the commonly used reference electrodes in experiments. AgCl + e = Ag + Cl- E0 = 0.199V vs NHE at 25°C The structure of the electrode is Ag/AgCl/saturated KCl solution. The electrode is processed with glass, and the tip's contact part is made of porous ceramics. For regular measurements, the electrode is directly inserted into the measuring solution for use. If it is necessary to avoid the presence of Cl- ions or when measuring non-aqueous solutions, a holder can be used. Additionally, the tip of the reference electrode is used to prevent contamination by being in contact with the solution in the cell. First, the solvent and supporting salt are placed in the holder, and then the reference electrode is attached to the holder. After that, it is inserted into the measuring solution. It is easy to replenish the internal saturated KCl solution. The electrode is long-lasting. We also have SCE saturated KCl calomel reference electrodes and sulfate mercury/sulfuric acid reference electrodes of the same dimensions available.

Electrochemical measurements are often used in alkaline solutions. In particular, a reference electrode that can withstand strong alkalinity is necessary for research on nickel-alkaline secondary batteries and alkaline fuel cells. Instead of the SCE calomel electrode with Hg/Hg2Cl2/KCl, a reference electrode using Hg/HgO/1M NaOH is employed. HgO + H2O + 2e = Hg + 2OH- E0=0.098 V vs NHE 25°C Prototype development began in 2002, and sales started in 2003. Thousands of units have been sold over the past ten years. During this time, the electrode has been improved twice. In joint research with a university, new materials have been used in the liquid contact part of the electrode instead of ceramics, enhancing its alkalinity resistance and electrochemical conductivity. The body of the electrode is made from chemically resistant Teflon resin. It is more resistant to strong alkaline solutions than conventional products. At the time of shipment, the electrode is fully assembled, and the internal liquid is 1M NaOH, ready for immediate use. The cap at the upper end of the electrode is screw-type, making it easy to remove. The internal liquid of the electrode can be freely exchanged, using, for example, 1M NaOH or KOH solutions, or 6M NaOH or KOH, etc.

Code CPt regular price 9,800 yen. The diameter of the platinum wire is 1mm, and the length is 10mm. Code CPt035 regular price 6,700 yen. The total length is 70mm. The diameter of the Pt wire is 0.5mm, and the length is 35mm. The length and area of this platinum wire are suitable for our 20ml electrochemical cell. The area of the electrode is larger than our working electrode area. Code CPt250 regular price 23,800 yen. It is a counter electrode made of 99.99% platinum wire with a diameter of 0.5mm and a length of 250mm. The total length is 80mm. The length of the straight platinum wire is 30mm, and the coiled length is about 15mm. It has a large area for the counter electrode.

The graphite counter electrode (NEW) is composed of graphite, which is known as an alternative material to precious metals. It is often used in fuel cell catalyst evaluation (ORR) and similar applications. The graphite counter electrode is used in electrochemical measurements. A current is passed between the working electrode and the graphite electrode. After measurement, the electrode needs to be washed several times with ethanol and then dried in a nitrogen environment or allowed to air dry.

Green Sulfate Green Silver/Silver Sulfate Reference Electrode (NEW) When you want to avoid including Cl- in the electrochemical measurement solution (for example, in Cl- analysis), or in acidic conditions, particularly with sulfuric acid or sulfate-based electrolytes, the silver/silver sulfate reference electrode is used instead of the mercury/mercury sulfate reference electrode. Compared to our SCE electrode, the CV measurement potential difference of a 1 mM Ferri/Ferro solution is 0.440V.
