It excels in portability and can directly display hardness values. ■ Principle The impact body with a test chip strikes and rebounds from the surface of the specimen using the force of a spring. A voltage is generated by the interaction of the coil and the magnet built into the impact body. The voltage, which is proportional to the speed, is transmitted to the electronic mechanism and displayed digitally as the hardness value "L." The hardness value "L" is a number that is 1000 times the quotient of the rebound speed of the impact body divided by the impact speed.
