The Smart Attach method is a non-welding, short-term bracing reinforcement method that replaces traditional seismic reinforcement.

★Acquisition of Construction Technology Examination Certification★ On December 2, 2019, we obtained the "Construction Technology Examination Certification (Building Technology)" from the Japan Architecture Center (BCJ - Examination Certification - 259). The Smart Attach Method is a non-welded joint method for brace reinforcement ends in seismic retrofitting of steel structures. It uses uniquely shaped SA hardware, SA plates, and high-strength bolts to connect to existing structures (H-shaped cross-section columns and beams). Feature 1: No on-site welding required Reduces fire risk. Minimizes fire protection measures. Feature 2: Construction can be done while occupied Simplifies construction through bolt connections. Can be installed without the need for large scaffolding, allowing brace reinforcement work to be carried out while the building is in use. Feature 3: No need to drill bolt holes in the flange Since drilling bolt holes in the flange is unnecessary, there is no cross-section loss in the flange, resulting in minimal reduction in the cross-sectional performance of H-shaped materials. Feature 4: Reduction in work hours and shortening of construction period Contributes to reducing work hours and shortening the construction period through reduced fire protection measures due to non-welding, minimized changes in manufacturing lines and equipment, and enabling construction while occupied.

The quantity of SA hardware and bolt diameter will be determined based on the required load capacity at the brace connection. - This method corresponds to the connection method between H-shaped cross-section materials and brace materials in brace reinforcement methods. - The cross-section examination of brace materials (including gusset plates) and the seismic reinforcement design of buildings using braces fall within the scope of the seismic reinforcement designer's considerations. *This will not be implemented by Senkushia.

Senkushia Co., Ltd. In seismic reinforcement work for steel structures, it is common to attach reinforcement members to the building using welding. However, welding methods require considerable time and effort for work and fire protection, and they also carry the risk of fire during construction. Therefore, there is a demand for safe, reliable, and simple joining methods that do not use fire. In the previous Smart Fit Method, welding was necessary when installing reinforcement columns, but with this refinement, it has become possible to perform work without welding when the existing column is an H-beam. Additionally, the improvement of the toughness index (F value) of the column base has been achieved.

In seismic reinforcement work for steel-framed buildings, it is common to use welding methods when attaching reinforcement materials to the structure. However, welding methods require significant time and effort for work and fire prevention measures, and they pose a fire risk during construction. Therefore, there is a demand for safe, reliable, and simple joining methods that do not use fire. In response to these challenges, our company has developed the "Smart Attach Method" (brace reinforcement) with the concepts of "no welding" and "improved construction efficiency," which has been well received in seismic reinforcement for factories and warehouses.
