It is a highly reliable device that requires no maintenance even after long-term use due to the absence of mechanical moving parts. Unlike conventional tipping bucket rain gauges, it measures rainfall intensity and continuously outputs rainfall data from the start to the end of the rain as an analog signal. An infrared sensor built into the housing detects each raindrop passing through the sensing area, providing output data corresponding to the rainfall amount in one-minute intervals divided into four levels.
