An analysis case that investigated the usage temperature conditions to extend the service life of grease hardened due to oxidative degradation.
Our company is engaged in the analysis solution business. This document provides an overview, analytical principles, and procedures for evaluating the lifespan of grease. The grease used hardened after four years, leading to issues. The cause of hardening was determined to be oxidative degradation through elemental analysis (C/O), infrared spectroscopy, and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. To reduce the running costs of grease usage, we conducted kinetic analysis using thermogravimetric analysis/differential thermal analysis to investigate temperature conditions that could achieve a minimum lifespan of seven years.
