Application of bioremediation for oil-contaminated soil purification in Okinawa.
In recent years, in Okinawa, soil contamination due to oil and other substances has become apparent alongside the return of U.S. military bases, leading to a serious problem. In Okinawa, the main method for addressing oil contamination is treatment through lime mixing; however, this raises concerns as it alters the properties of the soil. There is growing interest in the effectiveness of bioremediation and its applicability. In response, our company conducted a treatability test (biotreatment suitability test) using Okinawan soil. 【Target Soils】 ■ High-concentration oil-contaminated soil (Kunigami Marge) ■ Medium-concentration oil-contaminated soil (Jagaru) *For more details, please feel free to contact us.

basic information
**[Testing Method]** 1. Sieve the soil sample through a 5mm mesh to achieve uniformity. 2. Collect a sample before testing (initial value) and send it to a third-party analysis organization for TPH analysis, and conduct measurements at our company. 3. Place 1 kg of soil into a stainless steel tray. 4. Dissolve essential element solutions and nutrients in tap water (after dechlorination), add to the soil from step 3, and mix well. 5. Add a complex microbial preparation and mix well. (For tests targeting medium concentration oil-contaminated soil, create a series without additives for comparative testing.) 6. Stir once daily and replenish moisture as needed (once a day, to the extent that the surface is damp). 7. On each designated test day, observe soil properties and collect samples for analysis and measurement, similar to step 2. **[Test Results]** Confirmed a decrease in TPH concentration and an increase in total microbial count, with no growth inhibition observed for the microorganisms in the soil. It was determined that the purification of oil content in the soil using the complex microbial preparation is sufficiently possible, regardless of soil type or TPH concentration. *For more details, please feel free to contact us.*
