Simerics MP+ is a fluid simulation tool designed to calculate the transient characteristics of various volumetric pumps, compressors, and valves. It is developed based on the thermal fluid simulation tool Simerics MP and utilizes all the features of Simerics MP. 【The following fluid analyses are possible】 ■ Free surface flow ■ Flow considering the compressibility of air contained in liquids ■ Pressure pulsations and water hammer effects ■ Coupling of pump flow with the rigid body motion of valves and cam rings ■ Flow in low to medium vacuum conditions ■ Compressible flow (subsonic) ■ Cavitation ■ Time variations of flow field (velocity vectors, pressure), flow rate, fluid forces, and torque The biggest strength is the ability to automatically create meshes even for clearances in the µm range, which is difficult with other general-purpose fluid analysis software!! Recently, there has been an increase in achievements with oil pumps for automotive and construction machinery, such as vane pumps for power steering and CVTs, and trochoidal pumps for engine lubrication. *There is a lot of information that cannot be posted online. (1) Automatic generation of calculation meshes! It is possible to automatically generate calculation meshes with simple button operations, even for complex flow paths. Additionally, for pump chambers that involve rotation/volume changes, high-precision calculation meshes can be automatically generated using a dedicated mesh creation module. There is no need for tedious tasks, as the automatic execution of high-precision mesh movement/rotation/deformation is possible. (2) Fluid analysis of various gear pumps is possible! Simerics MP+ has mesh creation capabilities for various pumps, including different types of gear pumps, making it easy to perform calculations for a wide range of pumps. It also has a mesh creation function for valves, allowing for calculations of flow paths that include valves, and coupled analysis is also possible. (3) More accurate modeling of aeration/cavitation! It includes a high-precision cavitation model, enabling the prediction of non-condensable gas expansion and steam generation due to cavitation. (4) Calculation of free surface flow As a new feature, the calculation of free surface flow has become possible. It is now feasible to analyze oil splashing inside gearboxes and oil suction from oil pans during pump startup.
