About Makuden Thoughts of the President of Makuden, Representative Director Yoshida Norio Proposals for Japanese Living by Japanese People After graduating from university, I joined an advertising agency, then took over the family business and established the furniture retail division. To learn about furniture, I traveled across Japan from Hokkaido to Kyushu, visiting various furniture production areas. Not content with just domestic experiences, I also visited international furniture fairs in Italy, the UK, Germany, Denmark, Indonesia, Thailand, and more, where I was exposed to various overseas lifestyles and cultures. Drawing on my experiences with many excellent products, I always stood in the store thinking about what proposals Makuden, as a Japanese furniture retailer, could offer to our customers. As time passed, I began to consider whether we could make proposals that only Makuden could provide. I came to believe that the essence of our store's creation lies in offering furniture that is more focused on "Japan." Thus, by establishing the new concept of "Proposals for Japanese Living by Japanese People," we renewed and reopened "NIPPON MODERN Makuden" on March 10, 2016.
