This device is designed to accurately measure the outer diameter of hair as a fundamental characteristic and to provide feedback data for the evaluation of other characteristics. There are various methods for measuring the outer diameter of hair that have been used traditionally, but this device was co-developed with Shiseido to enable more precise and rapid measurements. *The operation is via a touch panel interface.

Chuck Mechanism - The mechanism clamps both ends of the hair, allowing measurements to be taken without being affected by external forces (such as wind). - Since both ends rotate in sync, the hair itself does not twist. Shape Recognition - The sensor can move in the longitudinal direction of the hair, making it easy to recognize the shape along that direction. Hair Outer Diameter Measurement - Data measurement of 360 points (1°/point) around the circumference of the hair. - Measurement of two points: major diameter (peak) and minor diameter (bottom). Automatic Measurement - Outer diameter measurements in the longitudinal direction of the hair can be done automatically at arbitrary pitches with an automatic feeding mechanism. Analysis Method - Measurement results (data) can be collected on a computer and analyzed as Excel data.
