This document presents overseas research cases regarding the deterioration suppression effects of surface impregnation materials on concrete structures. In recent years, the importance of maintaining and renewing social infrastructure has been socially recognized, leading to numerous studies on repair and protective materials aimed at extending the lifespan and improving the durability of concrete structures. Among surface protection methods, the surface impregnation method has gained attention in recent years from the perspectives of workability and cost-effectiveness, and it is increasingly being used for concrete structures. The materials used in the surface impregnation method can be broadly classified into silane-based impregnants and silicate-based impregnants. Even when referring to silane-based and silicate-based impregnants, it is known that the deterioration suppression effects vary by manufacturer. This paper refers to several studies conducted after 2000 regarding the deterioration suppression effects of broadly defined silane-based and silicate-based impregnants on concrete structures.
