There are two types of thermal shock testing machines: air chamber type and liquid chamber type, depending on how the specimen is exposed to cold and heat. In the air chamber type, there are two subtypes: one where the basket holding the sample moves between cold and hot environments, and another where the sample basket is fixed and the temperature is switched between cold and hot using a damper.
