"Capillary Electrophoresis (CE)" is a method that fills a silica hollow capillary with an inner diameter of 100 µm or less with an electrophoresis solution, injects a sample at one end of the capillary, and then applies a voltage (-30 to +30 kV) across both ends of the capillary to perform electrophoresis, separating components based on differences in mobility due to charge, size, shape, etc. A UV/Vis (ultraviolet-visible) detector is used for detection, but for components that do not have UV absorption, an electrophoresis solution containing a component with UV absorption is used for indirect absorbance detection (detecting the target component as a negative peak).
