By determining the degree of fading of the film's dye due to sunlight, the fading rate is converted into cumulative solar radiation and cumulative photon flux using a calibration curve. This enables measurements that were difficult with conventional solar radiation meters. A dedicated portable measuring device that allows for convenient use of the solar radiation film "Optleaf" will be released in April 2018.
