A modern design that fits today's lifestyle!
"Orikouka" is a lampshade made by folding washi processed paper like origami to create a vibrant design. The washi processed paper features traditional patterns printed with woodblocks by craftsmen from Kyoto, and the Kyotobougu artisans add creases to fit the shape and perform the folding and mounting. Without a wooden frame or other structural support, it is three-dimensionalized solely with washi processed paper, allowing for a beautiful and vibrant expression of folds. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

We handle a wide range of services, including not only the renewal and reupholstering of fusuma and shoji, which are essential in Japanese architecture, but also the creation, repair, and restoration of frames, folding screens, and hanging scrolls, as well as wall coverings (such as waist-high panels, wall-mounted washi paper, and gold leaf application). Our work is carried out with care by certified traditional craftspersons recognized by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry as well as first-class certified hyogu craftsmen recognized by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare. For all your Kyoto hyogu needs, please leave it to us!
