Last year (2011), during the Great East Japan Earthquake, I received numerous requests for data recovery from PCs that were affected by the tsunami.
Our data recovery services have been in operation since 1995, and we have many successful cases. However, data recovery from PCs affected by last year's Great East Japan Earthquake has often been challenging. This is due to issues such as hard drives that were submerged in seawater suffering from significant rust, and the long time taken from the disaster to the request for recovery. Nevertheless, we were able to achieve a higher recovery rate than other companies for the damaged items because we shared the know-how from Hurricane Katrina with Ontrack in the United States.

This photo shows a circuit board extracted from a PC that was affected by a tsunami. This circuit board will be cleaned with a special solvent and made operational before being connected to the HDD. The know-how lies in which solvents to use and in what order. Reviving these damaged circuit boards makes it possible to obtain image data from the HDD for the first time.
