In this Nagara River cormorant fishing, eco-friendly sightseeing boats are actively used, including solar-powered boats and toilet boats equipped with LED lighting fixtures. The solar boats were introduced in the 2002 fiscal year. Currently, the usage has expanded to a total of 20 boats, including 18 large sightseeing boats and 2 toilet boats. Solar panels are installed on the roof of the boats, providing natural energy to power the lighting used inside the boat and the pump for flushing the toilet. Compared to cormorant fishing in other regions across the country, the Nagara River cormorant fishing stands out as exceptional in terms of the number of spectators.
