Low Voltage Distribution Line System Connection for Distributed Power Converters SPI® Transformer/Trans/Sun Power/Surge Protect Isolation Transformer
The 'SPI® Series', which incorporates an SPI® transformer (DC current leakage prevention transformer), is a series designed for connecting to low-voltage distribution lines in industrial solar power generation systems aimed at selling all generated power. By implementing a DC current prevention function, it enables clean power supply (202V) to the grid. Additionally, the S series (amorphous) transformer, which reduces standby power at night, is also available, allowing you to choose according to your needs. SPI® Transformer / SPI® Insulated Transformer for Solar Power Generation 【Features】 ■ Complete isolation between the power conditioner and the grid ■ Voltage conversion (converts the output voltage of the power conditioner PCS to a low-voltage wiring voltage of 200V) ■ DC current leakage prevention function ■ Lightning surge prevention function ■ High efficiency and low standby power *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us. ◇ In the event of a power conditioner failure, the SPI® transformer (DC current leakage prevention transformer) is crucial for addressing DC bias in pole-mounted transformers. If a failure in the reverse conversion device (power conditioner, inverter) causes a DC component to overlap with the AC current flowing into the grid, it can lead to DC biasing of the pole-mounted transformer, adversely affecting the voltage for consumers other than those with distortion-dispersing power facilities.

basic information
【Lineup】Available in 9 types of installation options. ■Type Z Series (Electromagnetic Steel Plate Insulation Transformer): Type A to I ■Type S Series (Amorphous Insulation Transformer): Type A to I ◇The SPIⓇ transformer is equipped with lightning surge cut-off functionality, reducing surge waveforms of AC 10kV to -40 to -50dB (approximately 1/100 to 1/316 = 100 to 31.6V), thereby attenuating lightning surges from the system side and protecting the power converter (PCS). ◇The S Series (Amorphous Core Insulation Transformer) achieves significant energy savings while suppressing no-load loss (standby power). In solar power generation systems under the FIT purchase system, it is essential to prevent direct current generated by the panels from flowing into the transmission lines and to protect the system from lightning surges entering from the transmission lines. Additionally, to increase revenue from selling electricity, measures against overloading (panel generation capacity exceeding PCS capacity) are necessary. Although excess power from overloading becomes waste, there is a significant advantage in being able to provide stable power supply with the SPI transformer, which efficiently generates electricity even with limited sunlight, despite having many panels installed.

Applications/Examples of results
◇Thunderstorm-Prone Area◇ The SPIⓇ transformer (SPI-transformer / insulated transformer) is a transformer developed based on the principle of preventing lightning surges through high-frequency insulation effects and high voltage resistance, allowing surges to be directed to the ground. When a surge enters electronic equipment, it progresses toward the ground while destroying areas with low insulation or withstand voltage until its energy is depleted. If a signal ground is installed in the electronic equipment, it essentially creates a pathway for surge destruction, which is very dangerous. In cases where the electronic equipment is ungrounded and the surge is electromagnetically induced, it can lead to the generation of very high voltage at the insulation point, similar to an open secondary side of a CT circuit on the current meter side, resulting in destruction due to spark discharge. In such cases, the progression of the surge follows unpredictable paths. The SPI transformer is designed to prevent lightning surges that have entered the system side from transitioning to the power converter side. ◇Concern about Salt Damage: Coastal Areas◇ When installed in coastal areas, measures against salt damage are necessary. The SPI transformer exhibits excellent corrosion resistance due to its treatment for salt-resistant and heavy salt-resistant specifications, effectively preventing equipment failure and reducing recurring maintenance costs.

Full-scale power sales SPI® Series: Insulation transformer with breaker box (Breaker thermal malfunction prevention model) Solar power plants sell electricity to the grid, so in the event of a wiring short circuit accident, there is a risk of causing a short circuit accident on the grid side as a worst-case scenario, leading to widespread power outages. The SPI® transformer can be equipped with a breaker box that includes a breaker and a leakage circuit breaker to prevent this from happening. The breaker box itself can be locked, and a padlock can also be installed. Additionally, it is designed with an IP44 equivalent waterproof protection structure, ensuring it is not adversely affected by water spray from any direction. Furthermore, as a result of our environmentally conscious design, we have been able to reduce the components used and power loss in the SPI® transformer. ■Effects of the SPI® transformer 50kVA - Reduction of approximately 1200kg of core materials in a lot of 100 units - Approximately 9% reduction in core usage (134kg → 122kg) - Approximately 4-6% reduction in core waste loss (5-8kg → 0.5kg) - Approximately 30-85% reduction in standby power: Cut core: 220W, Wound core: 160W, Amorphous: 26W - Reduction of logistics burden due to weight reduction
