The "Smart Fit Method" is a construction technique suitable for seismic reinforcement of factories and warehouses built to the old seismic standards. In the previous Smart Fit Method, welding work was required when installing reinforcement columns, but with this refinement, it is now possible to perform work without welding when the existing structure's columns are H-beams. The Smart Fit Method involves installing reinforcement columns and anchor bolts outside existing steel columns and connecting the columns to improve the bending resistance, shear resistance, and ductility index (F value) of the column bases. In seismic reinforcement work for steel-framed buildings, welding is the common method for attaching reinforcement members to the structure. However, welding methods require significant time and effort for work and fire protection, and they carry the risk of fire during construction, leading to a demand for safe, reliable, and simplified joining methods that do not use fire. In the previous Smart Fit Method, welding was necessary during the installation of reinforcement columns, but with this refinement, it has become possible to perform work without welding when the existing structure's columns are H-shaped. Additionally, improvements in the ductility index (F value) of the column base have been achieved.
