Lightweight glass foam material is a lightweight fill material for civil engineering applications. With a unit weight of 4-5 kN/m³, it effectively utilizes its lightweight properties to reduce settlement in embankments and road surface corrections on soft ground, alleviate wall pressure behind retaining walls, and lessen the load on underground structures. It can also be used as a mixed lightweight soil utilizing site-generated soil. It has been widely adopted in public works by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, local governments, highways, and private construction projects, with a proven track record of deliveries nationwide. Since lightweight glass foam material is made from waste glass bottles, it does not leach harmful substances, complies with soil environmental standards, and contributes to a recycling-oriented society. In construction projects utilizing lightweight glass foam material, it can also serve as a merit material for public works bidding through creative ideas. Lightweight glass foam material is an eco-mark product (17 131 006). - Features ○ The civil engineering type is a gravel-like porous body ranging from 2 to 75 mm. ○ Easy construction with compaction using standard heavy machinery. ○ Excellent drainage even during compaction. ○ Lightweight and easy to handle, with no preparation curing period, allowing for shortened construction time. ○ High flexibility on construction sites, making it possible to work even with distorted terrain or buried pipes.
