In 1975, a new hardness testing machine was developed by Dr. Leeb and Proceq (Switzerland). The product name "Eqoutip" was derived from the initials of the inventor "Dr. Leeb," along with "HL" for hardness, and "Energy" and "Quotient" for its commercial aspects. The Echo Test hardness testing machine has gained worldwide recognition for its high testing accuracy and reliability, becoming an ASTM (USA) standard in 1996 and a DIN (Germany) standard in 2007.
