No need for a foundation! A vertical retaining wall safety wall method that excels in construction efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
The "Safety Wall (ASW) Method" is a vertical retaining wall construction method that utilizes piles and tie-back anchors, characterized by the absence of a base slab, which is essential for conventional vertical retaining walls. This allows for a smaller construction profile, minimizing the impact on the natural environment. It has already been certified by the Minister of Construction as a retaining wall that does not require a base slab (certified by the Japan Building Center and obtained "individual" certification from the Minister of Construction) and has patents for three types: back anchor type, bracket type, and pit type. 【Features】 - Since a base slab is not required, the amount of earthworks such as excavation and backfilling associated with construction is reduced. - The new structural form allows for the construction of retaining walls even in narrow sites where conventional methods are not feasible. - Reinforcement and repair of retaining walls at risk of collapse can be carried out with minimal impact on existing buildings. - By using H-beams for the supports and PC panels (factory-produced) for the wall body, construction time can be shortened. - It is also possible to use cast-in-place RC structures for the wall body, allowing for flexible adaptation to local conditions. basic information
【Structure Types of ASW Method】 ○ Freestanding: Wall height ≤ 4.0m ○ Back Anchor Type: 2.0m < Wall height H ≤ 5.0m (Retaining wall back: Cut earth) ○ Bracket Type: Wall height h > 3.0m, Retaining wall back Fill; Certified wall height = 7.7m ○ Pit Type: Stand-alone parking and underground storage tanks, etc. 【Application Examples from the Advantages of ASW Method】 ○ Reduction of Natural Environmental Impact → No need for a base slab, resulting in a smaller construction cross-section → Can minimize the impact on stable natural ground ○ Revitalization of Unused Land such as Steep Slopes → By applying high vertical retaining walls, more flat area can be secured even on steep slopes ○ Renewal of Existing Retaining Walls → New retaining walls can be constructed while leaving behind aging or inadequate existing retaining walls (removal of existing walls is not necessary) ● For more details, please contact us or download the catalog.

The ASW method is a construction technique that minimizes the impact on buildings during the construction of retaining walls associated with land development, as well as during the renovation and reinforcement of existing hazardous retaining walls. Unlike conventional L-shaped retaining walls, this method can be applied in locations where renovations and repairs are not feasible, and it is anticipated as a renovation and repair method by municipalities where hazardous retaining walls remain unrenovated. To promote the dissemination of this method and improve technology, we have established the Safety Wall Method Research Association and are advancing new technology development.
