Vibration absorption and sealing angle

This is a ceiling trim used to create a clearance between the ceiling and the wall to reduce damage to interior materials caused by the shaking of an earthquake.

"Shock-absorbing trim" absorbs the shaking of the ceiling caused by earthquakes, reducing damage to ceiling materials compared to standard trims. It can also conceal the gap between the ceiling and the walls. According to technical advice from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, "For ceiling materials with significant weight (high in-plane rigidity), if part of the ceiling surface is rigidly attached or in contact with surrounding structural frameworks or finishing materials, large localized forces may act on the ceiling materials due to horizontal inertial forces during an earthquake, potentially leading to damage. Therefore, for ceiling materials that cover relatively large ceiling surfaces, it is necessary to provide sufficient clearance (gap) between the ceiling surface and surrounding walls, etc." (National Housing Guidance No. 357)
