This is a precast concrete toilet that can be used during disasters and is designed for underground installation.

The "ELBOX" is a disaster toilet constructed from box-shaped precast components, designed to withstand "automobile load T-25" and "Level 2 seismic motion." By installing a toilet-shaped iron cover, it can be used as an emergency toilet in evacuation sites such as parks and schools. The toilet-shaped iron cover can accommodate both square and round shapes. Additionally, the use of a parent-child cover makes it easy to empty and maintain. In cases where sewage treatment plants or pumping stations stop operating, or when sewage pipelines are damaged due to liquefaction, it functions effectively as a storage-type toilet tank. Furthermore, by installing a separate gate on the discharge side in advance, it can also be used as a combined storage/discharge type structure if the damage to existing pipelines is minor and there are no issues with the flow function. Being a precast component allows for labor savings and a reduction in construction time. Additionally, since the evacuation population varies depending on the scale of disaster prevention parks, it can accommodate necessary specifications (internal width, internal height, length) tailored to those conditions.

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in disaster toilets associated with the development of disaster prevention functions. In earthquake-affected areas, the installation of temporary toilets has been delayed due to disruptions in road traffic networks and congestion, leading to various issues such as "limited numbers," "poor sanitary conditions," and "insufficient support for vulnerable individuals." During the Great East Japan Earthquake, manhole-type toilets were established early on in some municipalities, and their effectiveness has been confirmed. However, if damage occurs to the piping due to liquefaction of backfill soil, it becomes difficult to discharge into the piping, making it essential to have storage-type toilets that can secure a certain amount of storage for a period of time. To meet that need, we have developed the emergency toilet for disaster situations, called [ELBOX].
