COBARION is a cobalt-based alloy developed by Professor Akihiko Chiba at Tohoku University’s Institute for Materials Research and manufactured by Aiwa Co., Ltd. It features a unique technology that suppresses nickel, which can cause metal allergies, achieving excellent strength, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. This COBARION material has high added value, being less likely to cause allergies and gentle on the human body. It is suitable for artificial joints in the orthopedic field (such as hip joints, knee joints, elbow joints) and dental applications like orthodontic wires and denture bases. Utilizing the technical know-how gained from the development and practical application of "COBARION," we engage in the development and manufacturing of various special alloys. From material selection to melting, forging, rolling, and machining, you can rely on Aiwa Metal Division as your one-stop shop for alloy materials. We handle everything from the production of ingots using 30kg and 100kg vacuum melting furnaces to hot plastic processing with a 600t hydraulic press and rolling mill, accommodating small-scale prototypes and development that are difficult for major special alloy manufacturers to manage. We also have a track record of joint development of functional metal materials such as special steels, magnetic materials, resistive materials, and spring materials, which are hard to obtain in the market, as well as original alloys customized for our customers.
