Maruhi Co., Ltd. develops, manufactures, and sells micro-hydropower generation devices that generate electricity by installing waterwheels and turbines in rivers and waterways. Maruhi's generation devices are under 1,000 kilowatts, with micro-hydropower ranging from 1 to 10 kilowatts. They can be installed with minimal alteration to the terrain and require little water usage, making them environmentally friendly. The Suijin No. 3 is a compact (generator dimensions: φ140×L approximately 600), high-output (rated output: 2.4 kW (MAX 3 kW)) fully waterproof hydropower generator. This device was jointly produced by five small and medium-sized enterprises in southern Nagano, focusing on price and performance, under the guidance of Professor Masayuki Horio from the Independent Administrative Institution Japan Science and Technology Agency and his task force member Eizō Shimizu.
