The Cone Penetrometer S-217 is the easiest to operate and portable static cone penetration testing device.
- Soft ground primarily composed of soft clay, silt, or peat is optimal, and it is convenient to quickly measure the approximate cohesion and depth of cohesive soil and to grasp the outline of the ground profile. - The penetration resistance required to statically push a cone into the soil manually is measured with a probing ring, and estimates of the relative strength, cohesion, unconfined compressive strength, and allowable bearing capacity of cohesive soil are obtained.
