Integrated building material solar power generation glass "Sunjoule"

AGC Inc. and New Market Development G will exhibit at GX Management WEEK 2025 held at Tokyo Big Sight. We will introduce the solar power solution "Sunjoule," which utilizes windows, walls, and eaves of buildings that are currently in the spotlight. ■ Building Material Integrated Solar Power Generation Glass Sunjoule This is a highly designed solar power generation glass that makes use of glass areas in buildings, such as openings and eaves, which are easily visible to the public, enabling power generation in urban areas where installation space is limited. AGC Asahi Glass's "Sunjoule See-Through" has been adopted in the lower floors of the Nihonbashi Daiya Building. "Sunjoule See-Through" is a building-integrated solar cell module that sandwiches laser-cut amorphous silicon cells between two sheets of glass. AGC's solar power-generating glass was adopted at Takanawa Gateway Station, which opened on March 14, 2020, in Shinagawa, Tokyo. Takanawa Gateway Station aims to be a gateway connecting Tokyo to the world, based on the concept of "Global Gateway Shinagawa." It is positioned as a place to start new initiatives by introducing the latest station service facilities and conducting demonstration experiments. As part of this effort, AGC's "Sunjoule" series, which combines solar power generation functionality with the bright spaces characteristic of glass, was adopted from the perspective of wanting to balance the "Eco Station" initiatives promoted by JR East, which incorporate environmental conservation technologies. The "Sunjoule" has been installed in two locations: the roof of the platform for trains heading toward Tokyo and the glass walls inside the station, contributing to a station that considers both the environment and comfort. (Note: The "Eco Station" initiative involves the introduction of various environmental conservation technologies, such as energy-saving and renewable energy, into the station. It is based on four pillars: "Energy Saving," "Energy Creation," "Eco Awareness," and "Environmental Harmony," with each eco menu being implemented at the station.)
