●Basic Characteristics of Alumina Treatment α 1. Physical Properties There is an Fe+Al alloy layer on the internal surface layer of the base material, and the outermost surface is covered with an oxide film (Al2O2). ● Extremely high hardness - MHV 800 to 1,000 ● Excellent resistance to seizure and galling. ● Heat resistant - melting temperature is about 1,160°C ● The strength of the base material remains almost unchanged after treatment. ● High dimensional accuracy can be achieved. ● Effective as a method for bonding (fusing) dissimilar materials. ● Welding is also possible. 2. Chemical Properties The alloy layer and the oxide film on the outermost surface are chemically stable. ● Improvement in Corrosion Resistance a. Excellent resistance to high-temperature oxidation. b. Excellent resistance to sulfidation. c. Improvement can be made across general corrosion, with particularly excellent characteristics in high-temperature corrosion resistance. d. Stress corrosion cracking can be prevented.
