In 1910 (Meiji 43), the founder Ryujiro Yanaka established a municipal chemical research institute in Dalian, Manchuria, and began research on the chemical applications of the local specialty "soybeans." In 1921 (Taisho 10), he moved to Tokyo and established the Yushi Chemical Company in the area of Jabukubo, Ebara Town, Ebara District, Tokyo (now the headquarters).
