FAMCON is constructed from three geometric features. The first feature is that the thread angle is set to 55° and the head-side flank angle to 15°, while the opposite flank angle is set to 40° with an unequal angle thread, in order to increase pull-out resistance without reducing thread strength. The second feature is the arrangement of U-shaped notches along the entire length of the threaded section to enhance screw-in capability. The third feature is that the notched part of the thread creates a recessed area at the bottom of the thread valley to serve as a collection point for the shavings produced during machining.
