It is a hand-cranked generator that can easily generate electricity by turning the handle.

The electricity generated is direct current, with a maximum output of approximately 12V. Since it produces direct current, it can be used in various ways as a substitute for batteries. It is useful for lighting small bulbs, operating motors, and for experiential learning about electricity. The polarity changes depending on the direction in which the handle is turned. Turning the handle to the right makes the red clip of the alligator clip positive (+) and the black clip negative (−). Turning it in the opposite direction reverses the polarity. It can also light a 100V bulb. By connecting multiple hand-cranked generators in series, the voltage increases. For example, connecting five in series can yield over 50V, allowing a 100V bulb to be lit. The grip and handle are designed to be easy for children's hands to hold.
