In Japan, it refers to a movable tent installed on the exterior of buildings that functions to adjust sunlight and shield against rain. There are electric, manual, and hybrid types available, and in the case of electric awnings, remote control switches for manual operation or sensors that automatically adjust based on wind or light intensity can also be installed.
