Marlite is a hollow, fine spherical foam produced by heating volcanic fine glassy tuff (silt) that is found in the Nakano area of Iizaka Town, Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture at high temperatures. Since it uses volcanic ash born from the Earth as its raw material, it is mostly amorphous (natural glassy) and has a very low environmental impact.
