A new product has been released to strengthen measures against driftwood in sediment control facilities.
- Measures to enhance the log capture function installed on an impermeable type sediment control dam -
Protech Engineering Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Seiro Town, Kitakambara District, Niigata Prefecture; President: Shoichi Inoue) has developed a new log capture device called "RB (R.B.) Catcher" aimed at reducing log damage caused by the increasing heavy rain disasters in recent years, and has begun sales.
The RB Catcher is directly installed in the upstream section of an impermeable type sediment control dam to improve log capture functionality. It can be flexibly adapted without large-scale construction, regardless of whether it is newly installed or existing.
In wide river sections, when using the conventional straight arrangement, capturing logs can cause the openings to become clogged. This results in water flow concentrating in the side sections, reducing the water passage capacity, which can lead to damming and the risk of logs overflowing downstream.
In the case of this product, the arrangement structure creates gaps between units, allowing for a water passage that prevents blockage by logs. It effectively suppresses damming and ensures that subsequent logs are captured without overflowing.
Through the provision of this product, we will contribute to strengthening disaster prevention and mitigation measures. Furthermore, we will continue to focus on product development based on the concept of "basin flood control."
