"Patroid-Shin" is an alarm system developed for emergency earthquake alerts. When the Japan Meteorological Agency predicts a seismic intensity of 5- or higher, areas expected to experience a seismic intensity of 4 or higher will receive an immediate alert via a light and an audio announcement indicating that an emergency earthquake alert has been issued, prompting attention to the surroundings. At construction sites, it enables damage reduction through safety measures such as lowering crane loads to a safe location and evacuating workers from unstable scaffolding. ★ Mechanism of "Patroid-Shin" Emergency earthquake alerts utilize the difference in the speed at which two types of seismic waves (P-waves and S-waves) travel. When a seismometer close to the epicenter detects a P-wave (initial tremor), the Japan Meteorological Agency instantly estimates the magnitude and intensity of the earthquake and announces that strong shaking will arrive before the S-wave (main shock). Using this mechanism, "Patroid-Shin" operates as follows: 1: When a seismic intensity of 5- or higher is predicted, areas expected to experience a seismic intensity of 4 or higher will immediately receive an emergency earthquake alert (warning) via mobile phone carriers. 2: The "Patroid-Shin" installed in the area will activate. 3: The "Patroid-Shin" will alert the surroundings with light and sound through its warning system.
