Initial in Fisheries: A new economical technology that lowers the internal temperature of fishing boats' ice storage holds by 3°C. The new material 'SPACECOOL' that releases heat into space for cooling has been introduced for the first time on fishing boats in Chiba Prefecture.
We are pleased to announce that our company, in collaboration with Nichimou Co., Ltd., has introduced the radiation cooling material "SPACECOOL," which can dissipate heat into space and cool without energy, to address the challenges posed by extreme heat in the fishing industry, where stable transportation of catches is becoming increasingly difficult. This is the first time this technology has been implemented in the fishing industry. The introduction has already begun in Chiba Prefecture, starting with the purse seine fishing boats "Kinsei Maru" and "Ito Maru."
[To reduce ice melting and allow fishermen to focus on fishing without unnecessary tasks]
Nichimou, one of the distributors of this material and possessing expertise in marine technology such as research and development of fishing nets and gear, has introduced this material for the first time on the Chiba-registered purse seine fishing boats "Kinsei Maru" and "Ito Maru." It was confirmed that the temperature inside the ice storage hold decreased by approximately 3°C compared to when it was covered with conventional cooling sheets. As a result, fishermen can use ice economically and systematically, and without the need to manage ice, they can focus on fishing without worrying about the freshness of their catch or the timing of their return, even during large hauls.
