Featured in Packaging Times: 'Promoting Waterproof Paper Tubes at the Exhibition, Even with Vertical Grooves Cut into the Paper Tubes'

The comprehensive paper tube manufacturer Sankyo Marutatsu exhibited at the "Paper Processing Technology Exhibition" held at the Osaka Industrial Creation Center on April 18 and 19, promoting their "flame-retardant waterproof paper tubes."
In addition to the inherent properties of paper tubes, their flame resistance and high water repellency due to unique technology have garnered attention, leading to expectations for various applications.
For several years, they have been developing equipment in collaboration with processing machine manufacturers that can cut grooves vertically into paper tubes, continuing to promote "split paper tubes."
During the demonstration, they showed that even with cuts made, the paper tubes could be submerged in water multiple times while having fabric or acrylic sheets inserted between joint paper tubes. While paper tubes have higher water resistance compared to other paper products like cardboard, this demonstration proved that even with cuts, moisture does not penetrate the interior of the paper tubes, making peeling and deformation unlikely. Many visitors stopped to observe and showed interest.
In addition to being used as furniture and fixtures in moisture-prone areas like kitchens, further applications are expected, such as plant supports and packaging. Furthermore, in pursuit of a "circular society," they are also developing environmentally friendly products, such as paper bobbins made from biodegradable plastics, to meet various needs.
