An important factor in managing the health of cows is effectively monitoring their rumination. Generally, cows ruminate for about 6 to 10 hours a day, but there can be extreme changes in rumination time as a precursor to estrus or changes in health. Particularly in the two months before and after calving, there are many accidents involving mother cows, and due to changes in health, they may be unable to give birth or may fall ill. Therefore, it is necessary to quickly recognize the signs of health changes, and an IoT technology solution for managing cow injuries and illnesses has been developed. By attaching a vibration-powered beacon to the cow's jaw, the beacon generates power through the up-and-down movement of the jaw during feeding and rumination, emitting radio waves. Additionally, an IoT gateway is installed to receive the beacon's radio waves, and data is transferred to the cloud from there. The responsible personnel can now monitor the health status of the cows in real-time using tablets or smartphones. By utilizing ICT/IoT technologies and general-purpose devices, we continuously monitor the operational status of equipment and streamline inspection tasks, thereby improving and enhancing operational efficiency. Traditionally, loggers were installed on utility poles, and workers would take SD cards back for data analysis. However, by installing IoT gateways on the utility poles and aggregating data in the cloud, along with remote management of the gateways, we achieved efficiency and enhancement. In the pig farm, there are times when it becomes unmanned at night, which can lead to issues being left unattended for nearly half a day without anyone noticing. Additionally, since the location of the malfunction can only be confirmed by going to the pig house, a system for remote monitoring was necessary. Therefore, we introduced the 'OpenBlocks IoT BX1/OpenBlocks EX1' that our company handles. As a result, compared to the previous method where checks could only be done by physically patrolling the large pig farm, we were able to respond quickly and efficiently, reducing the burden on staff.
