Real-time VR solution "IC.IDO" <Event Held>

Volvo Trucks presents a seminar available for on-demand streaming! A VR tool that allows virtual verification of product behavior and interference without waiting for prototypes.

"IC.IDO" is a VR tool that enables real-time verification of the product development process through virtual error detection. VR has already entered the "implementation" phase after going through the "expectation-led" phase of emerging technology, and its utilization in the product development processes of the manufacturing industry is progressing. Additionally, as remote meetings become more common, communication tends to become "sparse." By utilizing this tool, close communication can be expected even from remote locations. An online seminar will be held on January 27, 2022. Volvo Group Trucks will showcase a case study of reforming the product development process aimed at zero prototypes using this tool in a collaborative virtual workspace, including demonstrations. ★ The seminar content will be available for on-demand viewing. If you are engaged in design and manufacturing or are responsible for DX, or if you have an interest in industrial VR, please take this opportunity to watch. 【How to View】 Please check the details on the "ESI IC.IDO Blog" after January 28, 2022 (Friday).

Introduction to "Manufacturing and Performance Analysis Solutions"

For evaluating product performance and examining manufacturing processes! We will introduce solutions related to manufacturing and performance analysis.

In recent years, due to the influence of weight reduction and efficiency improvement, the design and material technologies of automotive components have become increasingly advanced, making considerations such as "how to enhance product performance during the manufacturing process" increasingly important. However, in actual manufacturing processes, products are produced through multiple processes, yet many CAE analyses focus solely on one process or physical phenomenon. ESI Group proposes the challenge of reproducing and predicting design and manufacturing processes that include multiple processes, aiming to reduce lead times and costs through virtual prototyping. 【Case Studies】 ■ Fatigue durability analysis considering the casting process By faithfully modeling the pressing, welding, and press-fitting processes and transferring the residual stress and strain from each process, we evaluate the impact on the final fatigue strength performance. ■ Impact analysis considering the die-casting process The strength of die-cast products decreases in proportion to the amount of surface oxides entrained during filling. By providing material strength based on the amount of entrainment calculated through die-casting simulation and conducting impact simulations, we achieved a good correlation with actual machine tests. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Daimler Industrial VR System 'IC.IDO' Implementation Case Study

Intuitive evaluation made possible! Utilizing VR systems in the development and design of passenger and commercial vehicles!

Daimler is a global manufacturer of passenger cars and commercial vehicles based in Stuttgart, Germany. The company utilizes the VR system 'IC.IDO' in the development and design of passenger and commercial vehicles. It is used on desktop and immersive VR systems for interactive design problem-solving. When each engineer conducts VR validation individually, they previously used large VR systems, but there is now a shift towards desktop (HMD) systems, which can also reveal technical challenges that were not seen with large systems. The HMD, like other VR systems in the company's virtual reality center, serves as a tool that allows even novice users to intuitively and immediately evaluate tasks such as assembly, installation, disassembly, and repair. 【Implementation Effects】 ■ VR validation can be conducted on individual desktops (HMD) ■ Technical challenges that were not seen with large systems have emerged ■ Even novice users can intuitively and immediately evaluate tasks *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

Case Study of the Structural Analysis Solution 'VPS' by the Railway Technical Research Institute

Precisely reproducing smooth tooth surface contact! Utilizing VPS for railway noise sources and their countermeasures!

The Public Interest Incorporated Foundation Railway Technical Research Institute is a research organization that was established in 1987, inheriting operations from the former National Railways' Railway Technical Research Institute and others. The organization has been conducting simulations of vehicle collisions and other scenarios for many years, primarily using the "Crash module" of the VPS. In recent years, in addition to this, they have also been working on contact system analysis of gears, rails, and wheels using the "Medysa module," and it has been applied to vibration and noise issues of gear devices with a parallel cardan system. Understanding the phenomenon of gear noise and elucidating its propagation mechanisms are limited experimentally and can be costly, making simulation a useful tool. 【Benefits of Implementation】 ■ Can precisely reproduce smooth tooth surface contact ■ The Crash structural analysis module is compatible with other VPS modules ■ When calculating in an integrated environment, if you have VPS data, it can be applied elsewhere *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

Mazda Case Study on the Introduction of Vibration and Noise Analysis Software 'VA One'

Creating a Quiet Car! Introducing Examples of Utilizing Simulations for Noise Control Measures.

Mazda Corporation's NVH Performance Development Department is a division that analyzes sound and vibration, working on the realization and improvement of acoustics, vibration, and ride comfort. In our department, we use 'VA One' to evaluate the noise reduction effects of interior materials in their installed state. By changing parameters such as the arrangement, quantity, and material (sound absorption capacity) of sound-absorbing materials, we can evaluate the noise reduction effects of these materials based on the in-vehicle noise levels through simulation. This analysis employs a computational method called SEA, which not only offers fast computation speeds but also allows for the understanding of power transmission paths from external inputs, making it useful when considering the arrangement of sound-absorbing materials. 【Benefits of Implementation】 ■ Fast computation speed ■ Ability to understand power transmission paths from external inputs ■ Effective when considering the arrangement of sound-absorbing materials ■ Contributes to achieving maximum sound absorption effects *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
