Nickel-plated aluminum is aluminum with a nickel layer developed independently by Japan Aluminum. Nickel-plated aluminum allows for soldering to aluminum by applying a nickel layer to the aluminum surface. The surface of regular aluminum forms an oxide layer in the atmosphere, making soldering difficult.
