The SBIR Construction Technology Research and Development Grant Program aims to support the research and development of new technologies that contribute to solving challenges in the construction field. OPT has been discarded and not utilized. Palmholz has developed a new material that hardens through a "self-adhesive function," compressing OPT and solidifying it with the components of the material itself without using adhesives. This time, a proposal was made to aim for the suppression of the urban heat island phenomenon through the cooling effect of vaporization on the surface of the new material, which was adopted in June of last year.

Palmholtz, which is working on the development of new materials utilizing discarded oil palm trunks (OPT), will establish a system for increased production of the new materials starting in May. The technology for developing the new materials recently received the "Monozukuri Nippon Grand Award Chubu Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry Director's Award." Taking this opportunity, inquiries have been received from major global e-commerce (EC) companies, accelerating the movement towards commercialization. The company will also respond to demands for increased supply from existing customers.

Palmholtz Co., Ltd. will be exhibiting at the "AXIA EXPO 2026" held at Aichi Sky Expo (Aichi Prefectural International Exhibition Center). Our company possesses unique new technologies that transform oil palm trunks (Oil Palm Trunk = OPT), which have been treated as unused resources due to their lack of strength and value as building materials, into wood-based products such as building materials and furniture. The oil palm, which produces a large amount of edible oil, leaves the trunks unused and discarded after the oil is extracted. It is estimated that the amount of discarded trunks is 20 million tons per year in both Malaysia and Indonesia. This project involves peeling and drying the unused oil palm trunks to create veneer, which is then layered and compressed under high temperature and pressure to manufacture and sell exterior materials. We showcased a bench as a reference exhibit at the Malaysia Pavilion during the 2025 Osaka Expo. We sincerely look forward to your visit.
