The Industrial Association will revise the regulations regarding the granting of certification marks in accordance with JSA standards for commercially available sodium hypochlorite water starting April 1, 2024. The new direction aimed for by the Association through this revision is to strengthen the foundation for increasing membership and disseminating various information, including the spread of the JSA mark. With these revisions, we hope that more companies will obtain the "JSA standards compliant" certification mark for sodium hypochlorite water and prove its reliability. 【Revision Points】 ■ Before Revision - Membership in the Japan Sodium Hypochlorite Chemical Industry Association requires "recommendation from a member." - Costs are incurred based on the number of certification marks used. ■ After Revision - A new "JSA Special Membership Qualification" has been established to make applications easier. - Joining the Association has become more accessible. - A flat-rate system has been adopted regardless of the number of certification marks used: First year (registration fee + annual membership fee + examination fee + annual usage fee) → Total of 200,000 yen From the second year onward (renewal fee + annual membership fee + simplified examination fee + annual usage fee) → Total of 100,000 yen *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registration■Influenza Season Has Arrived Influenza tends to spread every year from autumn to winter. In Japan, the peak season is typically from December to March. Influenza is contagious and can spread rapidly among many people in a short period. It is accompanied by high fever and joint pain, and in some cases, it can lead to severe complications. ■Using Humidifiers and Air Purifiers with Humidifying Functions is Effective The effectiveness of humidification has been confirmed in the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's Influenza Q&A. ■Using Hypochlorous Acid Water Allows for Safe Use of Humidifiers The issue of humidifier pneumonia caused by contamination in humidifier tanks has become widely known since last year. By adding hypochlorous acid water with an effective chlorine concentration of about 5 ppm or more to the humidification water in the humidifier tank, it is possible to prevent the decay of humidification water and the proliferation of bacteria. Numerous verification results from members of our industrial association (HCIA, Japan Hypochlorous Acid Industry Association) have confirmed that space spraying of hypochlorous acid water with an effective chlorine concentration of 20 to 100 ppm significantly reduces viruses in the air. It has also been confirmed to be effective in preventing the occurrence of influenza infection clusters based on implementation cases in facilities for the elderly.

Free membership registrationDuring the winter season, the risks of infections such as COVID-19, influenza, and norovirus increase in workplaces and public spaces. While hypochlorous acid water is touted for its high effectiveness as a disinfectant and infection control measure, consumers lack the knowledge to determine which products are truly safe. The Japan Hypochlorous Acid Chemical Industry Association can certify the first Japanese Industrial Standards Association (JSA) compliant standard, JSA-S 1012:2022. This allows consumers to recognize that products with this certification are safer and more reliable than the generally available hypochlorous acid water products. We believe that spreading this information and encouraging companies to obtain JSA certification is the mission of our organization, HCIA. We hope that this opportunity will lead your company to receive JSA certification for your hypochlorous acid water products.

Free membership registrationThere have been announcements that spraying hypochlorous acid water in the air and disinfecting hands are effective measures against influenza and COVID-19, but I believe many general consumers do not know which products are safe and reliable. The Hypochlorous Acid Chemical Industry Association has tested commercially available hypochlorous acid water products in Japan and certified them according to the JSA standards set by the Japanese Standards Association. In places with many children or within companies, alcohol disinfection can pose risks. In such cases, disinfection with hypochlorous acid water that has obtained JSA certification significantly contributes to measures against influenza and COVID-19, and can be used with peace of mind. Additionally, businesses that produce and sell hypochlorous acid water products are also encouraged to register as members of the Hypochlorous Acid Chemical Industry Association and obtain JSA certification for their products.

Free membership registrationWe will introduce "hypochlorous acid water not recommended by HCIA and the reasons for it." For those produced by electrolysis, "the effectiveness diminishes within 1 to 2 days," and for those containing cyanuric acid, "the safety of space spraying is insufficient." Additionally, high-concentration solutions are not recommended because "the inactivation of chlorine concentration occurs quickly." 【Hypochlorous acid water not recommended and reasons】 ■ Electrolysis type: Effectiveness diminishes within 1 to 2 days ■ Contains cyanuric acid: Insufficient safety for space spraying ■ pH above 7.5: Increased danger due to protein destruction by caustic alkali, which rises with pH ■ pH below 4.5: Risk of chlorine gas generation ■ High concentration: Rapid inactivation of chlorine concentration *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationAir purification using hypochlorous acid is effective for preventing airborne and aerosol infections. For viruses that adhere to hard-to-reach places or float in the air, replace the water in ultrasonic or evaporative humidifier tanks with hypochlorous acid water at around 30 ppm (10-50 ppm) to humidify the room. This helps suppress the growth of bacteria in the humidifier tank, allows for hygienic humidification, and is also effective against viruses that adhere to air conditioning units and hard-to-reach areas. [Features] - Effective against viruses that adhere to hard-to-reach places and those floating in the air - Can be used instead of water in ultrasonic or evaporative humidifier tanks - Suppresses the growth of bacteria in the humidifier tank - Allows for hygienic humidification *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationI will introduce the differences between hypochlorous acid water, sodium hypochlorite, and alcohol. Chlorine-based disinfectants primarily rely on hypochlorite ions, and their effectiveness cannot be expected unless used at high concentrations. Additionally, the mechanism of alcohol's sterilization is due to its degreasing and dehydrating power when it evaporates, requiring a high concentration of 70% to 80% for effective sterilization. Hypochlorous acid water is an excellent disinfectant and virus remover that resolves the issues associated with both traditional chlorine-based disinfectants and alcohol disinfectants. 【Features】 ■ No issues with space spraying ■ Does not bleach or corrode materials ■ Effective even at low concentrations *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.
