Following last year, this year as well, from August 30 (Friday) to September 1 (Sunday), 2024, we were able to contribute to the planning, establishment, and operation of the specimen measurement room at the "Drug Store Show 2024" held at Tokyo Big Sight (booth exhibitors: Japan Association of Self-Medication and the Specimen Measurement Room Collaboration Council). This year, both the space and the target number of measurements were doubled compared to last year. Despite the impact of Typhoon No. 10, which made conditions difficult in the city center, the venue saw a turnout exceeding last year's numbers (approximately 98,000 people), and the atmosphere was vibrant. The measurement item, as in the previous year, was HbA1c (Hemoglobin A1c), which indicates the average blood sugar level from about a month and a half to two months prior. Our dispatched members included one pharmacist and four nurses. Together with the staff from the Specimen Measurement Room Collaboration Council and the staff from Abbott Diagnostics Medical Company, who provided the measuring equipment again this time, we assisted with a total of 305 measurements over the three days.
